Ginny and hubby, Chris will attend WomenHeart's (the National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease) 7th annual Wenger Awards for excellence in Washington, DC. The awards recognize individuals and organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to and significant achievement in efforts to reduce heart disease in women.

Inaugurated in 2000, the awards are named in honor of Dr. Nanette Kass Wenger, M.D., Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and chief of cardiology at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She is a long-time advocate for increased research and better treatment of women with heart disease.

The second annual "Hike for Humanity" takes place along the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail. This is a 7-mile hike, however, participants are permitted to shorten their hike to whatever distance is comfortable for them. There will also be a televised rally in downtown Annapolis on the 13th at noon in which Ginny will be interviewed, as well as the VERY special guests Mark Klaas (Founder of Klaas Kids Foundation named for his 12-year-old daughter, Polly, who was kidnapped and murdered in 1993) and Chip St. Clair (Regional Director of the Justice for Children in Michigan (who suffered extreme physical & mental abuse at the hands of his father - a convicted child murderer who had been on the run with his family for 26 years).

This "By Invitation Only" evening is hosted at the home of Chris and Ginny Meerman....100 invited guests (who are required to bring a cash donation for The Progeria Research Foundation) will dine upon the delectable fare of The NY Fix Deli (this wonderful restaurant is located at Main Street at South River Colony in Edgewater, Maryland)...be serenaded by beautiful holiday music while mingling and exploring the extensively Christmas-decorated Meerman home. On the outside, there are 40,000 lights - all beautifully showcasing the home and bringing to life the spirit of the season. On the inside there is a 250-piece Department 56 Village display, 5 exquisitely decorated Christmas trees - each done in a different theme to "match" the room they are located in (the foyer tree is 14' tall and is every girl's dream - decorated "Victorian", it is all pink/cream and gold and is lit with pink & white lights!), every hearth and railing has lit greens adorning them, and so much more!! Ginny leaves no detail undone and with Chris' expertise, all the lights work without blowing the electricity out for the rest of their neighborhood ;-) It truly is a Christmas Wonderland!!
