Re: Going To Bat For Our Children
To: Whom It May Concern (Should Be All Of Us)
Dear Mrs. Meerman:
My name is David W. Johnson, Jr. and I am an Author, Poet and Motivational Speaker to adults on behalf of our children. The purpose of my message is to encourage adults to become more involved with our children so children might live long, healthy, intellectual and normal lives. Thanks to current adult neglect, our children are on paths of serious destruction. If as adults, we do not change those roads and soon, our children will not survive.
Personally, I became tired of listening to the News day after day and hearing about another young child, teenager or young adult being murdered, incarcerated, molested or kidnapped. I decided it was time to do my part to change things for our children in a positive way. I cannot do it alone. Just like our children, I could use your help.
We cannot sit back ignoring the problem while waiting on the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Tom Joyner, Michael Baisden or Oprah Winfrey. Young people need older, experienced adults to step-up and give them the benefit of their knowledge and wisdom.
Many of us believe that our children are just hoodlums, drug dealers, gangsters, baby makers, so forth and so on but I assure you, THEY ARE NOT!!! Young people are looking and praying for the same opportunities our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, teachers, preachers, neighbors, etc., gave us. One of the problems children face today is, adults are not offering children the kind of support, encouragement and leadership they had growing up.
We had Ella Baker, Mary McLeod Bethune, Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary Church Terrell, Ida Wells-Barnett Thurgood Marshall, Jesse Jackson, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Eldridge Cleaver and the list goes on. All of those individuals were Great and Productive Leaders and Role Models who were determined to set positive examples and show the next generation roads to a better way of life.
(2)
Today’s children have Michael Vick, Rapper TI, Rapper “Da Brat,” R. Kelly, Antwan C. Carter and Daniel Pinckney Jr. Some may think these are great role models but personally, I do not! As the saying goes, “you tend to be who you imitate and or emulate.”
The only places these individuals are leading our children, is to prisons, cemeteries and down the paths of no respect and disrespect. Please, understand me; there are some great and decent rappers and sports figures in America but the negative seem to outweigh the positive.
What are African Americans and all caring Americans going to do? Sit by and let our children murder one another, be murdered by opposing gangs, in shootouts with the police, molested by perverted pastors and priest, seduced by pedophile neighbors or are we going to do whatever it takes to save their lives and give them a future? Our children are not the blame for the problems they are having or the problems they are causing. Adults are!!!
Young Khiel Coppin, eighteen years old, shot and killed by police in New York. He was unarmed, mentally ill and holding a brush. If you thought his death was senseless and did not have to occur, I assure you; your thinking was and is correct. Some police will go out of their way to save a cat or dog while shooting down a mentally ill teenager as though he were an Iraqi shooting at them. On the other hand, things have become so hostile until police cannot afford to take chances.
The African American communities are losing more young people than other communities. Many incidents are not happening by accident or within the law. There is a campaign to rid the African American communities of its male population. If you do not believe me, do what far too many African Americans fail to do, READ!!! Some very, very valuable and life saving information that could help the African American Communities are in books and on computers.
Look around. What do we seem to crave these days? Fancy cars, I-Pods, X-boxes, Playstations, expensive clothes that are excessively large We want big televisions, drugs, guns, alcohol and every man or woman with money or good looks. We waste our children’s college funds playing lottery and going to casinos.
Who is selling us drugs? We are! Who is bringing drugs into the Country? Not us!!" Food for thought", The Ronald Reagan administration used African Americans to sell drugs, starting in California and spreading throughout the inner cities in order to fund the Iran-Contra War. We are still suffering from that to this day. I assure you that were just one of many incidents designed intentionally to destroy African Americans. Who is killing Us? They are but they are using us to do it.
We had better wake-up before we are all put to sleep, permanently. Where will our grandchildren and great-grandchildren end up, without our help? Think about that!!!
(3)
If you think it is a joke, search the internet and find out how many young people were murdered by drugs, gangs and one another in 2007. We are now in 2008 and they are headed down the same destructive paths. Until we do something positive about this, it is only going to get worse.
While I seem to be focusing on African American children, I assure you my concern is for ALL children. We might be from different Races but I assure you, we are all Americans and I am fighting for America’s Children.
Whether you are reading my e-mail, have in your hands one of my “Presentation Packages” or an actual book, I urge you to take this message to heart and help others and myself, “Save Our Children’s Lives” and do it with “rapid speed.” Do not let an error in spelling or a missed formulated sentence make you think I am un-educated or do not know what I am speaking of. As Americans, we have a tendency to look for reason(s) not to help instead of the other way around. God has given me a mission and has asked me to ask you to lend a hand.
Mrs. Meerman, it will be God’s will if we meet and are able to work together. I thank you for taking the time to read this information. If you would like to discuss this matter further or would like me to speak at any school, your church, organizations, PTSA, Lodge, Hall or church congregation, do not hesitate to give me a call.
Sincerely,
David W. Johnson, Jr., Founder & President

06.16.08 | Paula J. Spangler Omg, Ginny! I didn't know that you were an advocate for Womenheart. I was born with heart disease. I have a bicuspid valve instead of tricuspid, and I had surgery when I was 2 months old and again at age 4 years to correct a coarctation of my aorta and deformed left arm artery. I "flat lined" when I was 2 months because I had patent ductus arteriosus. I have had 4 cardiac catheterizations, one I was mistaken to be asleep for but was actually awake in the beginning! I grew out of my mitral valve prolapse and don't need pre-med before dental procedures anymore, but I still have a murmur and get yearly echocardiograms. Instead of using it as a crutch, though, it's made me more determined to surpass everyone's expectations of me. I usually don't really bother telling anyone, though, unless they ask about my scar. Although my situation was congenital, heart disease is a serious illness caused by poor diet and exercise but that can still be treated prophylactically and symptomatically. I'm glad you're involved! - Paula J. Spangler
06.16.08 | Cami Conditt Hi ginny! This is Cami from the Ujena tryouts saturday, it was very nice to meet you. 06.15.08 | Paula J. Spangler Hi, Ginny! How are you? It was SO nice to meet you at the Ujena open call yesterday. I'm also excited that I was chosen to compete in the final event! Any pointers (constructive criticism) that you would like to toss my way are more than welcome. I actually look foward to receiving them. Good luck to you in your preparation for your own upcoming competition!

03.27.08 | DeBorah I would love to talk to you if your schedule permits. In a nutshell, I have sold my home in Salisbury, Md. and will be moving to St. Thomas to live until the Lord directs me otherwise.
I thought long and prayed hard as to where God would have me be and what He would have me do. I've always had a passion for children; their well being, support, livelihood, etc. Also, for abused women (I was one).
After searching the web for a place to contact, I was led to your site.
I will be in St. Thomas in 2 weeks-the week of April 7th. I will be meeting with a realtor and seeking employment as well.
If you could direct me to agencies that could use my assistance, I would be most grateful. If not, please know that I am praying for you and all of your endeavors for making strides for abused women and children.
Warmest regards,
DeBorah J. Johnson

01.10.08 | Irene Hello Ginny,
I am a 30 year old woman with an *** year old daughter. I have been divorced for *** years; however, my ex-husband still controls my life. In short, my ex-husband persuaded me to run away from my family at the age of 19 and get married. We remained in hiding for 5 months until I became very depressed and contacted my family. After leaving him twice, he finally agreed to move closer to my family. I naively became pregnant in order to bring him closer to my family. Instead, he decided to move us to **** when my daughter turned one years old. I ran away from him a year later because he was mentally and verbally abusing myself and my daughter. He occasionally abused her physically as well. I went back to my parents in ****, and he found me. I had to go back to ****. When I returned I tried to maintain full custody but he was able to manipulate me into granting him joint custody. Now, I have been living in **** for seven and half years and I am not allowed to go back to ****. My daughter is currently being abused mentally, verbally, and physically by himself and his new wife. I really need help because I want to return to **** where I have love and support from my family. I feel like no one will help me please if you can contact me and offer me assistance with this matter I would be very greatful. And if you can not and have someone else in mind please let me know. You can reach me at ****.
Thank you again,
Sincerely,
Irene

09.06.07 | Michelle Hello Ms. Meerman,
My name is Michelle *** and I spoke at Jessica's Law.
I'm sorry I haven't said anything to you sense the meeting but my
life has been crazy. It seems like everything is falling apart.
I'm asking for your help, I wanted to speak to teens about rape and
start rape groups at schools. This year I had started a rape group at my
old high school and it worked out great. But what I noticed is that
there are alot of "us" and they don't have any support.
I've thought long and hard and I want to do something with rape and
eventually open my own rape program.
I have no idea were to start and I need help. I have no help and I
want to come to the teens as young as possible because I want them to
relate to me.
Ahhh please help!
Things are a mess in my life and I just want one thing to turn out.
Thank you,
Michelle ***
08.10.07 | Lynn (Prescop) Friedrich from Seabrook, MD Ginny,
I am just blown away ! You are beautiful inside & out. We went to school together & you had visited my site on classmates .com. I went into this website after searching your name on google & I must say that I am so proud of you girl ! I had no idea that you had been through so much. I was abused, physically, by my father & had to leave high school in 11th grade after a terrible beating, I left with the cloths on my back & lived from place to place just to survive. I attended night school to graduate with our class in 12th grade, thankfully to our guidance counsler, an exception was made for me. Thankfully I met a wonderful man in 1985 we married & have been together ever since. I did make peace with my father right before he passed last year, he finally said the words I needed to hear "I love you & I am sorry".
Ironically, we live in Edgewater, MD, I see in this site that you also live in Edgewater, or did.
My daughter just graduated from South River High School this year & is going to college to study Interior Design.
It is so weird how somewhat similar our lives have been, although my only successes would be through my children & breaking the pattern of abuse. I also volunteer for the Edgewater community sports & the community association, LTPOA. I feel that you get what you give & I try to give back as much as I can.
I must say that I am so proud to know that you came from the same town I did & that you have come so far & have done so much for so many.
Thanks,
Lynn
07.23.07 | Ginny Hannah Reynolds Hi Ginny,
My name is Ginny Hannah Reynolds and I went to high school with your husband Chris and his brother John. In fact, I dated John all through college and for some time beyond. We recently had our 30 year reunion and I asked about Chris. Someone mentioned that he was married to the current Mrs. Maryland. A short internet search brought me to this very nice website. Please let Chris know that we missed seeing him. He may not have known about the reunion, or it could have been a busy weekend. Anyway, nostalgia set in and I began wondering how the Meerman family was doing. They were all very kind to me while I was dating John. He was a wonderful person, as was the rest of his family. Please give them all (Mr & Mrs Meerman, Frieda, Liz and their families) my best regards. Let them know I have an occasional craving for salt licorice! And, of course, say hello to Chris for me. It's good to see he's found a wonderful person to share his life with.
Sincerely,
Ginny Hannah Reynolds
07.19.07 | Michelle Bouchard - Mrs. RI US Ginny, I was intrigued by your website and how fortunate I was to meet you. I was sitting at my computer and telling my husband about you and how you really touched my life. My instinct is usually right, and when I first met you I knew there was something special about you. You are one of the most influential people that I have ever met and not many people touch my life in that way. I wish we had more time to spend together, but five days is not that much to get to know everyone. I am definitely coming to see you and Laura this year, so make some plans. Please keep in touch and I love the picture of the animals. Good luck and god bless, you are truly the best. Love, Michelle P.S. Like it or not I am going to be a friend for a long time. LOL
